Welcome to the 2010 Winter/Spring Session!

Mrs. Laabs' Treble Choir Welcome Letter

Sing with Me Information

Do Re Mi Information

Dear Chorus Families,

Welcome, especially to our new families, to the second half of PCC’s 23rd season!

We have a few details to share with you concerning our general operating procedures and other FAQs:

The “Purple Form”

Is your singer younger than 12? Would you like her/him to meet you in the parking lot after rehearsal? Then come in and sign a purple form on the hall table if you haven’t already. If we don’t have your purple form, you must come in each week and sign your singer out of class. This is a park district rule.

Absences

We excuse 3 rehearsal absences in any session. After a singer’s 4th absence, he or she may not be able to perform in our April/May concerts. The director(s) will judge the singer’s knowledge of our repertoire. We are always understanding when school performances conflict with PCC, but note that the rehearsals in Cutting Hall before the concerts are ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY FOR ALL SINGERS.

If your singer will be absent, let us know. We prefer that you email either Diane at bdramsden[at]comcast.net or Sue Love at SueLove0817[at]aol.com. You can also call the Chorus Hotline at 705-5123 x 281. [This number is also on the front of your singer’s music.] You can leave messages 24 hours a day. Letting us know about absences helps us keep track of all our singers and shows your commitment to our program.

Communication

Email works best. Most of you have given me your email addresses. I don’t share them with anyone, even the park district. I promise to keep my emails short but it is truly the best way to give you information. For more immediate information on a performance day, call the Hotline 847-705-5123 x281.

Our Website…Everything you need to know all in 1 place!

Have a question about a rehearsal time? A concert date? Uniforms? An upcoming performance? Go to our website www.thepcc.org and click on Singer Center. There you’ll find everything you need! The calendar page is especially useful [use it on “month” setting] and for questions about a performance, look under “performance guides.”

Canceling a Rehearsal

If a rehearsal is cancelled at the last minute, I’ll email you, put it on the Hotline as promptly as possible, AND put notices on the entrances to the Community Center.

If District 15 is closed because of weather, PCC will not rehearse that afternoon/evening.

Our Music

Singers should practice their music at home and ALWAYS bring their music to rehearsal. Your singer’s music belongs to the chorus and should be treated respectfully. You’ll return it AND the red theory book before the final concerts. We perform all music from memory. Our music represents all time periods, all cultures, and all faiths.

Calendar

Please check our website calendar as you make family plans so all of our singers can participate in every rehearsal and event. I also have an abbreviated calendar on paper. Ask me on Wednesday night or find extras on the sign-in table. It’s also on our website. However, I create that calendar in early January so it won’t be accurate as events or times change throughout the session. That’s why it’s important to check our website calendar. It’s always accurate.

Uniforms

All singers need concert uniforms. The used uniform sale is on Monday, Feb. 8, 3:00-6:00. Will you miss it? Ask at the next rehearsal if you can check the used uniform closet. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to call Schoolbelles directly, go to their website (www.schoolbelles.com), or go to their Des Plaines store to order your uniform pieces. Our Schoolbelles school code is #1614. All uniform information is on our website under Singers Center. All singers must wear concert uniforms on Wednesday April 21.

Right now, only Concert and Honors choirs need PCC red polo shirts this session; singers and chaperones going to Nashville in July will need 2 red shirts.

If you have questions about uniforms, check our website or find the blue uniform packet available on the table outside 1B during rehearsals.

Thanks for your patience with all these details. Did I skip something? If so, just email me or ask in person at a rehearsal. Also keep in mind that while I work for the park district, I don’t have an office there. I’m only there for rehearsals [about 2:00 on rehearsal days]. I do most of my work at home.

We’re anticipating a wonderful winter/spring season!
